A new year. A new plan.

For 2011, after struggling to come up with a singular New Years Resolution for ourselves, we decided to do break down our ideas and goals and do each of them for a set period of time. We started on January 3rd with "Not Eating Out" for 36.5 days and set out to keep the momentum going over the entire year. What we found throughout that process though, was the easier, less collaborative they got, the harder it was to keep, and the easier they were to let go. We SO enjoyed everyday of our toughest challenges - and this year, having reflected on what worked and what didn't- we've decided to bring back our favorites- push ourselves by doing less longer and keeping each other motivated along the way...

So, for 2012, please join us on our new adventure and wild ride that will be 50 days.

And... We're Back!

It's January 3rd again- and what did we want to do more than anything else today? As crazy as it sounds, it's true. We wanted to go for our "Not eating out" challenge again- but for this time- not 36.5 days- rather 50 days.
Today we woke up in Denver- packed out bags, hoped a flight home to D.C., spent $137 on groceries at the store (we literally came home to bare cupboards and an empty refrigerator), unpacked them and stated, "okay, we start tomorrow."

And that's just what we intend to do- 50 days of home cooked, home prepared meals together and on the go. While last year was challenging, it actually became so much more fun, collaborative, tricky and fulfilling than we ever could have dreamed. So we are back for more - for longer.

So starting tomorrow we're up and running. We look forward to new and different recipes this year, exciting adventures and the many "eating out" temptations that await. We hope you'll join us- come over for meals, host us for meals, try new meals, and send love and comments along the way.

But for now- to the next 50 days: BRING. IT. ON.

  2. Jess and Jon -

So inspired by you both! *SO* inspired, in fact, that my friend Bridget and I are undertaking something similar. Would you mind sharing the lost of 10 things you did last year?

She and I came up with a ridiculous list of things on a restaurant napkin yesterday :), and are trying to winnow it down. Any wisdom from you would be much appreciated!

Hope to see you all soon! In the meantime, you can find me at bfighera@gmail.com.

    Much love,
    Beth

    5) Yoga
    6) Reading the other side of the news (for us, only conservative news)

    8) Reading 36.5 pages a day
    9) Prayer
    10) Do It Yourself Projects

  4. I have a great spicy Chinese eggplant recipe, but it does call for chili/garlic sauce from a Chinese grocery.
